as my journey comes to an end

Where I grew up in the 60's, steeped in Southern California surf lore, everyone knew that the waves come in sets, usually of nine consecutive waves, each one succedingly larger. The ninth wave of each set is believed to be the biggest and most spectacularly rideable wave of each set, hence the desire to watch, count and wait for the ninth wave. The ninth ninth wave is the ninth wave of the ninth set, and is the most desired and the most powerful of all waves. To catch it begins your own legend.
